Procedure 8901.3 - High School Bracket Racing


1. 

BACKGROUND

1.1. 
Motorsport racetrack enterprises organize and operate bracket racing for secondary school students at their facilities.
1.2. 
The BC Secondary School Motorsports Association (BCSSMA) is an association formed by a number of teachers interested in developing and encouraging bracket racing for secondary school students. The BCSSMA facilitates communication between the racetrack operator of events and schools.
1.3. 
The 成人视频 Board of Education, through schools, operates automotive programs and facilitates related activities for students. The development of vehicles for high school bracket racing is considered to be conducive to creating student interest and enthusiasm for school in general and for automotive programs in particular.
1.4. 
The board is not the sponsor, organizer, operator or supervisor of high school bracket racing or race-related events or activities.
1.5. 
For the purpose of this regulation, a “restricted area” at a bracket racing event is defined to be any area which requires special authorization, credentials or permission to enter or to which admission by the general public is restricted or prohibited.

2. 

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT PARTICIPATION

2.1. 
In school promotion and organization of bracket racing activities for secondary school students is only permitted for events:
a)At motorsport racetracks operated pursuant to National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) certification, insurance and safety arrangements; and
b)Promoted by the BCSSMA for high school students involving only races limited to elapsed times in the one quarter mile of not less than twelve (12) seconds.
2.2. 
Meetings must be organized for parents and students at which:
a)Information on the rules and regulations of the sport will be provided.
b)成人视频 and parents will be advised that the school district is not responsible for loss or damage regarding vehicles while being transported to or from, or being operated in motorsport events and that motor vehicle insurance is generally null and void while vehicles are participating in motorsport activities.
c)Providers of vehicles utilized in bracket racing activities will be advised of the responsibility for the provision of a safe, appropriately equipped, vehicle for the event and of the requirement that they provide written authorization for the use of the vehicle, at their entire risk, for the event.
d)成人视频 and parents will be advised that the school district is not the organizer, sponsor, operator or supervisor of any motorsport events and that participants are assuming all risks for injuries/damages; and
e)Information will be provided in relation to the Release of School Board Liability and Indemnity (High School Bracket Racing) which the district requires to facilitate the participation of students.
2.3. 
Only those students for whom a Release of School Board Liability and Indemnity (High School Bracket Racing) is on file in the school may participate in motorsport events. The release must be witnessed by the educator-in-charge or principal.
2.4. 
Vehicles may only be operated by persons with a valid drivers license.
2.5. 
Educator-In-Charge who accompanies students to high school bracket racing events organized and directed by motorsport racetracks should be familiar with the safety rules and regulations of high school bracket racing in order to be supportive of event operations being directed by the racetrack operator.

3. 

MOTOR VEHICLES UTILIZED IN HIGH SCHOOL BRACKET RACING

3.1. 
“School” vehicles to be utilized in High School Bracket Racing must be prepared to NHRA standards under the supervision of a teacher with recognized automotive skills who is familiar with NHRA standards.
3.2. 
All vehicles must be inspected by an independent NHRA certified inspector before each race.
