Physical Education
Physical and Health Education 8 – 10 The major topics that are studied in this course are:
- Physical Literacy – students learn through exposure to various forms of physical activity such as team sports, minor games, dance, and individual fitness.
- Healthy decision making – 成人视频 learn how to set goals in order to make healthy decisions about their overall fitness and health.
- Social Health – 成人视频 learn how to maintain healthy relationships, and how to respond to discrimination, stereotyping, and bullying.
- Mental Health- students learn how to develop and maintain their mental well being.
Fitness and Conditioning 11 is designed to provide students an opportunity to focus on well-rounded training programs, working towards a personal goal. 成人视频 will receive knowledge and practice of the following components of fitness: Cardiovascular endurance, Muscular Strength & Endurance, Power, and Flexibility. Principles of Training, Anatomy and Sport Nutrition will be topics covered in this course.
Fitness and Conditioning 12 is designed as an extension of Fitness and Conditioning 11; students will have the opportunity to design programs and fitness testing for others, as well as themselves in addition to refining what is learned in Fitness and Conditioning 11.
Active Living 11 /12 is an extension of P.H.E. 8 - 10; students will have the opportunity to participate in and lead physical activities, team sports and individual sports. The course looks to develop educated individuals who have the knowledge, skills, and understandings they need to be safe, active, and healthy citizens throughout their lives.
Physical Education and Recreational Leadership 10 (PERLS)
Purpose: to facilitate school culture via the creation of an environment and activities aimed at student engagement inclusion, creativity, activity, and service.
Structure: This will be a timetabled class happening within the normal school day operating as a mini co-op combining Recreational Leadership with Physical and Health Education 10. Therefore, physical Education and Recreational Leadership will be a combination of in class learning, planning, and implementing of school, athletics, and physical education initiatives.
